Le Petit Coin is situated high above the Dordogne valley but within easy walking distance of the charming small town of Le Buisson de Cadouin. Le Buisson sits on the banks of the Dordogne and boasts delightful swimming and canoe/kayak facilities and hiking paths. It has its own cosy cinema, a mainline railway station and a traditional weekly produce market. Evening gourmet markets are held weekly in June, July and August. There are two small supermarkets, a pharmacy, a bank with ATM, post office, an excellent restaurant and several bars/auberges. There are two 18 hole golf courses within 20 minutes drive, and a delightful 9 hole course 5 minutes away.
Perigord Noir area is renowned for it’s cuisine, foie gras, truffles and strawberries and is arguably the most beautiful stretch of the valley.
Le Petit Coin is conveniently placed, being equidistant from Sarlat to the east and Bergerac to the west. Bergerac has its own airport with direct flights to and from Paris, Amsterdam, London Stansted, Southampton, East Midlands, Liverpool and Birmingham airports. The English Channel Ports are between 5 and 7 hours drive away. Within less than half an hour’s drive of the property are the charming towns of Les Eyzies, Le Bugue and St Cyprien. Chateaux abound – Milandes (the former home of Josephine Baker), Marqueyssac with its spectacular gardens, Castelnaud and Beynac, where you can take a river trip on the Dordogne. A trip to the vertiginous pilgrim city of Rocamadour makes a fascinating day out.
